Mulled Fairtrade Wine

This is an English recipe.
Quantities yield 1 litre or approximately 8 drinks.

Ingredients

250 ml water
750 ml
(1 bottle)
FAIRTRADE red wine
150 gm FAIRTRADE sugar
4 FAIRTRADE cloves
10 ml FAIRTRADE ground cinnamon
a good pinch FAIRTRADE ground nutmeg
a good pinch ground chili powder
2 FAIRTRADE lemons
1 FAIRTRADE orange
FAIRTRADE Sources

Method

Preparation


Slice (thin slices are best) the lemons and orange.

Cooking


Boil the water, sugar, cloves and ground cinnamon nutmeg and chili to dissolve the sugar and add slices from one of the lemons. Allow to stand for 15 minutes to infuse.
Add the full bottle of red wine and gently heat through. Do not allow the mixture to boil.
Once hot, strain into a serving bowl and add the remaining orange and lemon slices as a garnish.

To serve


Serve in wine glasses or small cups.

Variations


No variations needed as the process produces an excellent mulled wine.
